01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

At Garo, part of the pleasure is watching each cup being brewed in a siphon. Diners have described enjoying their coffee one cup at a time in the small shop, and one person who chose the house blend said its deep flavour made a lasting impression.

The Garo Original Blend is balanced and mellow, making it an easy choice if you want to start with the shop’s signature flavour. For something richer, try the Mocha Blend, which combines the original blend with mocha. The Showa Roman Blend has a full-bodied flavour that draws on bitterness, while the American Blend is lighter and intended to be enjoyed black. There are several styles to suit different preferences.

Specialty coffees offer another way to explore differences in origin and roast. Panama Esmeralda Geisha is described as light on the palate, like tea, with a fragrant finish and citrus notes. By contrast, Tanzania Hope Peaberry is city-roasted, with a robust flavour and a sweet-tart taste reminiscent of dried fruit. If you are unsure what to choose, you can share your preferences and ask about the beans. One customer who bought beans reported receiving advice on how to brew them and having them ground as requested.

Coffee and beans are available to take away as well as to enjoy in the shop. The space is small, and some customers have reported that smoking is permitted, so it may be worth considering the setting as well as your preferred way to enjoy your coffee.
